Let’s all admit it – The X Factor was a huge flop.
Prior to the show coming to US shores I would watch the UK version online. I found it more entertaining than American Idol, plus I thought that the stars from the show were actually quality.
The sad thing is that the talent didn’t transfer here. No one blew me away on the show – judges included. It didn’t help that The Voice blew the ratings out of the water and stole the shows potential fan base.
Three seasons down and barely any talent to show. The first season winner didn’t even release an album.
But enough about all of that. What we’re really thankful is the televised showings of LA Reid.
LA is one of the most respected music moguls of the industry. He has started the careers of Rihanna, Usher, Justin Bieber, and written countless songs. “Body Talk” anyone.
He also lead the 2005 comeback of Mariah Carey, which is one of the most successful comebacks in music history.
The X Factor was suppose to be the next big phase of his career as he took on to head Epic Records. While it threw him in the public spotlight and advanced him name in the American household, it also gave us his wide variety of facial expressions.
Let’s take a look back.
There was the “I CAN’T HANDLE THIS”
The “LET’S RAGE”
The “I LOVE ALL TYPES OF MUSIC” which also was “I’M ABOUT TO WIN WITH THIS 45 YEAR OLD WHITE MAN”
The “I SIGNED JUSTIN BIEBER” or “TURNT UP” or *Joe Budden Voice*
“PU-PU-PUMP IT UP”
The “I’M SORRY YOU’RE NOT RIHANNA”
*Come here baby, aye be my baby*
And then there were times when the music was just too much to handle.
Literally, he physically could not handle what he was hearing.
“OH HAVE MERCY”
LA was the only good part of the show. I watched it for him, mainly because I’ll always respect the man.
His leadership at Epic Records is anything but epic, but the history of his career is truth enough. He has founded so much talent over the years. He’s molded the career’s of some many superstars.
The X wouldn’t have been the same without him.
In fact, it wasn’t which is why the one season without him was the last.
